Exponential Growth

For my project we studied the growth of Divergent book sales, since it was published in 2011. Divergent is the first of three books in the series and is very popular with a growth rate in book sales of 214% per year, which is huge! Here is what we found!
This is exponential growth, growth at a rapid rate in proportion to the total number, instead of linear growth, growth at a constant rate, because for every year after Divergent was published the total book sales have grown by 214%. This is an example of exponential growth because the total number of books sold isn’t increasing at a constant rate in proportion to the number of years but instead it is growing at a rapid and disproportional rate.
